Located halfway between Geneva and Lausanne, Gland is home to well-known international organizations such as the WWF and IUCN. And in May 2023, it also became home to a new landmark: Dive Bär Craft Brewery & Taproom at Gland Gare Sud. It’s a craft brewery and flavour destination created for beer geeks, normal people, foodies and families from near and far. We can’t wait to meet you! But I see from the look on your face that you are confused. Perhaps you have one of the following frequently asked questions in mind?

FAQ

The best way for everyone is to buy them straight from us, whether at the taproom’s Bär Shop or by dropping us a line at our “info” address: we’ll let you know what’s in stock and how to get them to you. It’s a great way for you to get to know us and vice-versa, and it gives you access to the full range of Dive Bär products. What we don’t have in standard 33 cl bottles, you can take home in a growler, straight from the taps! Our online shop is currently offline, but will be back once the new incarnation of the site finally arrives. We deliver in and around Gland, not to mention clear across the country for a reasonable price.

Our flagship (i.e. “normal”) beers are also available through our trusted resellers. Check ’em out here: list of trusted Dive Bär resellers.

No, we’re still working on it. We experimented with gluten-free grains such as sorghum, and the result was fine but not astounding. We won’t be satisfied until we can produce something that will blow you away. When that day comes and we’re delighted with the result, you’ll have it in your hands!

Bear in mind that, although it will be a beer brewed without the use of gluten-containing ingredients, trace amounts of gluten might exist in the raw materials and end up in the finished product despite our best efforts. The only way to avoid this would be to have a second brewery dedicated exclusively to certified gluten-free products. This beer will therefore not be suitable for celiacs and others for whom even micro-quantities of gluten can cause adverse health effects, including death. Our beers are reallyl good, but not literally worth dying for.

Yes! We’ve got two versions of our Ultra-Lite Bitter Ale, which is a refreshing brew that anyone who really appreciates bitterness will love. Available on tap only, or for takeaway in a growler.

Dive Bär Craft Brewery & Taproom is located at Chemin de la Chavanne 1, Gland, Switzerland. It’s literally at the station, right next to the south exit off platform 3B. If you’re coming from the other side of the tracks, perhaps to escape the noise that often plagues that side of town, just take the underpass under the tracks and immediately go up the stairs on your right. Once on the platform, pull a U-turn and you’ll see Dive Bär’s famous mural staring you right in the face. Come on in, the door’s always open!*

Yes and no. While the colour of a beer can give you clues about its taste, it is only one of many characteristics. In fact, classifying our beers into simple colour categories (white, blond, red, brown and black, as they do in French) oversimplifies the wide variety of beer styles and the creativity that characterizes them. For example, in the ‘amber’ category, we have a number of different beers that are almost identical in colour but completely unique and unlike any other.

We also have a ‘brown’ beer which is actually a light and refreshing dark ‘white’ beer made just for summer. Yes, we have all colours of beer, but you won’t find us referring to them as such. We like to brew a wide variety of styles and we’re always happy to describe them for you, by flavour, hoppiness, bitterness, maltiness, acidity and, yes, even colour.

Every beer and its name has a back story! You can read all about it soon on our What’s in a beer name? section, coming soon.

If your country is Switzerland, then absolutely! If your country isn’t Switzerland, then we’re afraid not. We try to keep Dive Bär as local and sustainable as possible, and even shipping across Switzerland is taking things a bit far (quite literally). But if you’re ever in the area, we’d love to see you!
